ELLIE OUTDOORS
Hello!
I'm Ellie, a 25yr-old scientist, triathlete, bikepacker, rower, lover of adventure and the outdoors.

HIKES, BIKES AND BOATS
a little bit about me
I was born and raised in Herefordshire in an outdoorsy family - I grew up riding bikes around the lanes, being dragged out to the hills on my weekends and crawling through corn fields with my younger sister. I did a lot of different sports through school; I loved them all and couldn't commit to one so I was never particularly good at anything! But I appreciated the opportunities I had to basically do any sport I wanted to. Football, tennis, netball, sailing, swimming, badminton, kayaking, cycling etc etc. I fell fully in love with hiking doing my Gold DofE in college... choosing to do something yourself gives you quite a different outlook than when your parents tell you to! I then went to university at 18 and discovered triathlon. I became totally obsessed with it, and five years after doing my first ever triathlon I qualified for the Ironman World Champs in Kona. Along the way I did some ultra-distance cycling events, was president of the uni club, entered the world of bikepacking, climbed a few mountains, made some truly amazing friends, founded a women's triathlon group, graduated twice, worked in the covid labs, picked up a role volunteering in the bikepacking community, started a PhD, found myself questioning my career path, felt drawn to adventure, signed up to row the Atlantic and ended up with a business idea as a result! I now offer social media management support to ocean rowers - read more about it on my website: Ocean Socials .

What started as an Instagram page to document my training for my first Ironman became a very nice community where I was connecting with some inspiring people. I branched into several pockets of the sporty / outdoor world and ended up writing more and more blog-style posts... I had so much to say about everything I was doing, and people seemed keen to read it. I still have a lot to say about all those things I'm still doing, so that's where this page came from. Hopefully there is something of interest to you. Happy reading!
