Hopes of the Ocean

Updated: Feb 5

It's been a hot minute since I wrote anything here. I've been keeping up the journal but I have not had an ounce of time to write as much as I want to. This year has been the hardest year I have ever put myself through... I have given my everything to reaching the start line of the World's Toughest Row. I poured my heart and soul into the campaign, and I'm about to pour my heart and soul into the adventure, but I couldn't leave without sharing my pre-row thoughts somewhere.

My first hope of the Atlantic is that we make it to Antigua, because we know there's absolutely no guarantee of that.

I hope the ocean is kind to us, but I hope it shows it's true colours.

I hope we have calm days and I hope we have big waves;

I hope we have peace and I hope we have storms.

I hope we laugh, I hope we cry, I hope we're even closer at the end of the ride.

I hope it tests us, but I also hope I'll relax.

I hope it's hard and it hurts, but I hope I love it for everything that it throws us.

I hope we see wildlife and bioluminescence, I hope we see the brightest stars among the darkest skies, I hope we see the sun rise and fall below the sea.

I hope it feels real and raw.

I hope it finds me some clarity, some direction, I hope it shapes me to my truest self and I hope I reach the other side knowing who I am and what I want from life.

I hope it's everything I've dreamt of and I hope it's everything we've worked for.

I hope we are seen and I hope we inspire; I hope we are heard for all we are shouting about.

I hope our race reflects the commitment we've given it.

And I really hope this journey stays with me forever, because I already don't want it to end.
